Richard Gere and his onscreen leading lady Diana Silvers cozied up on a rose-laden pedicab in between shooting scenes of their unconventional romance film Asymmetry in New York City's Central Park on Thursday.

By the time the silver-haired Emmy nominee celebrates his 77th birthday on August 31, he will be 49 years older than The Abandons actress but that doesn't bother her.

Silvers is a self-described old soul having told ELLE, 'I feel like I'm 85 inside' and echoed to WWD, 'I'm like a 70-year-old man at heart' back in 2019.

At 5-foot-10, the former teen model appeared to be taller than Gere, who coordinated with her in matching baby-blue blouses for the on-location shoot.

In the May-December love story, Gere portrays 70-year-old world-renowned author Ezra Blazer, who embarks on a secret affair with 25-year-old editorial assistant Alice (Silvers) during the dawn of the Iraq War.

'Their one moment of eye contact [in Central Park] sparks a connection that leads them both down a life-changing rabbit hole, where they create a private world just for two,' the logline read.

'Ezra, famous for his audacious work, finds someone with whom he can be openly vulnerable, and Alice finds the courage to explore her own aspirations as a writer. Until it is all put at risk when their secret relationship is exposed.'

Producer Stacey Snider added: 'Asymmetry tells an unconventional love story that explores an improbable connection between two people at very different stages in their lives, which challenges their - and our - preconceptions about love and power.'

Intimacy coordinator Nicole Callender has already been hired to oversee the love scenes between Gere and Silvers.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Gere and Silvers's representatives but did not immediately hear back.

Asymmetry is a big-screen adaptation of Lisa Halliday's 2018 novel, which landed on the New York Times's most remarkable books of the 21st century list.

Edward Zwick serves as writer, producer and director of the age-gap love story, which began production in early July and will be released in 2027.

The 73-year-old Oscar-winning producer previously helmed Glory (1989), ABC's Thirtysomething (1987-91), Legends of the Fall (1994) and Courage Under Fire (1996).

But first, audiences can next catch the Space Force alum as Emily in Alec Griffen Roth's showbiz drama Billy Knight – hitting US theaters August 21 – alongside Charlie Heaton, Al Pacino and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Silvers - who pulls 10,169 monthly listeners on Spotify - is next scheduled to perform live October 17 at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gere's other upcoming projects include Apple TV's eight-episode limited series The Off Weeks and Ben Younger's plane survival thriller Left Seat.
