One person was taken to hospital after a car hit a takeaway shop in Auckland's Hibiscus coast.

Police confirmed that emergency services had responded to reports of a car hitting a building on Red Beach road at around 11:40am on Friday morning.

In a picture and video shared with RNZ, the car appeared to have hit Red Beach Takeaways. A fire truck could be seen at the scene.

St Johns confirmed one ambulance, one rapid response unit and an operations manager responded to the incident.

It said crews had to treat three patients in total with one taken to North Shore Hospital in a moderate condition.

"Two patients were treated at the scene (with no transport required), one in a moderate condition and one in a minor condition."

Police said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
