Apple appears to be testing a forthcoming iOS 26.6.1 update for iPhone users. This comes nearly two weeks after iOS 26.6 was released to the public.
iOS 26.6.1 in testing
iOS 26.6.1 started appearing in visitor logs for 9to5Mac this week. This means that devices running the update inside Apple have visited the site. MacRumors has also spotted evidence of the update in their visitor logs.
Apple released a trio of Mac updates this week to address a major vulnerability impacting the Screen Sharing app. This included macOS Sonoma 14.8.9, macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.1.
It’s worth noting that not every update Apple tests internally ends up being released to the public, even if it shows up in web analytics logs.
If Apple does release iOS 26.6.1 to the public, it will likely focus on bug fixes or security improvements. In June, Apple said that it will start expediting the pace of iPhone software updates as it adapts to the growing speed at which AI can develop malicious hacking tools.
iOS 27, meanwhile, is still in beta testing and is expected to be released next month for iPhone users. We’re currently waiting on Apple to release iOS 27 beta 5 to developers and iOS 27 beta 3 for public beta testers.
