A team of rescue personnel on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) recovered the body of Uttar Pradesh native Nigam Kumar, who went missing while bathing in the Vilangad river on July 19. The body was spotted after a four-day intensive aerial search using drone cameras over the accident site.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel said the body of the 19-year-old was recovered from an area nearly 2 km from the accident site. Two others who reportedly tried to save him from drowning had a narrow escape, they added.

Police sources said a dog squad had been deployed to assist the search and rescue operation. Many local rescue volunteers also joined the effort, they added.
