TEAM deploys 23 new personnel to boost Mandaue traffic workforce

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) will deploy 23 newly hired job order (JO) personnel after they have completed a three-day comprehensive orientation and training program.

TEAM Head Hyll Retuya said the new personnel underwent training focused on traffic enforcement operations, including proper procedures in apprehending violators, issuing citation tickets, and implementing traffic rules and regulations. The orientation also included legal modules to familiarize them with city ordinances, appeal processes, and other enforcement-related concerns.

The newly hired personnel are expected to help strengthen TEAM’s workforce, particularly in field operations.

Retuya said the agency currently needs additional manpower due to vacancies left by personnel who resigned and those who were removed from service due to extortion.

Before their official assignments, the recruits will first be deployed alongside experienced traffic enforcers to observe actual road operations. Retuya said this approach will allow them to gain practical experience before they are given their respective areas of responsibility.

The 23 personnel may be assigned to different sections of TEAM, including field operations, office duties, and engineering-related functions, depending on the needs of the agency. Most of them, however, are expected to be assigned in the field.

Retuya also reminded the new personnel about TEAM’s strict policy against corruption, emphasizing that the agency has zero tolerance for any misconduct among its members.

“Ako zero tolerance gyud to corruption, especially if naa gyod tay glaring nga ebidensya bisan kinsa pa na iya backer. Mao man gyod na ang mandato sa atoang administrasyon ni Mayor Jonkie. Kung kana naman lang gani binuang, wala gyod tay kawilihan ana. Tangtangon gyud sa trabaho,” said Retuya.

(I have a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, especially if we have glaring evidence, no matter who their backer is. That is truly the mandate of our administration under Mayor Jonkie. When it comes to that kind of nonsense, we have no patience for it. They will definitely be removed from their job.)

TEAM currently has around 400 personnel, with more than 200 assigned to field operations, including mobile units and towing teams.///
