CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” continued to affect Oriental Mindoro on Saturday (Aug. 8), bringing the possibility of heavy and persistent rains that could trigger flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas, authorities said. In its Weather Advisory No. 26, issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Oriental Mindoro was among the areas covered by a 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall forecast within 24 hours.
