Morgan Wallen already claims more No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 than the vast majority of country musicians. It’s uncommon for any star from that style to top the main songs tally, but to do so multiple times within the span of only a few years is all but unheard of.

While Wallen ranks behind some of the biggest and most successful names in the genre’s history on country-specific tallies, the singer has proved to be an undeniable force on the ranking of the most popular songs in America. He has helped change country music’s relationship with streaming platforms, which has allowed him to stand out from so many of his predecessors and even current stars based in other fields.

Wallen nearly adds to his total of champions this week with his new single “Been By Now,” which barely misses out on becoming yet another ruler.

Morgan Wallen Debuts at No. 2

“Been By Now” debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The single fails to conquer the most important songs roster in the United States by just one space, even as it enters several other Billboard rankings at No. 1.

Morgan Wallen Scores His Third No. 2 Hit

“Been By Now” becomes the third Wallen song to peak at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It joins “I’m the Problem” and “Just in Case,” both of which are featured on his most recent album I’m the Problem. Those two singles stalled one rung shy of dominating the Billboard Hot 100 only last year, as Wallen’s cuts missed the No. 1 space months apart from one another.

Morgan Wallen Owns Four No. 1 Hits

Wallen has already scored four No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100. He first reached the summit in March 2023 with “Last Night,” which went on to become one of the longest-running champions in the ranking’s history. “Last Night” spent 16 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of only seven tracks to rule for that long – a figure that grows this period.

“Last Night” is tied with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber as one of the sturdiest leaders ever, as all three spent 16 weeks in charge of the roster.

“I Had Some Help,” Wallen’s collaboration with Post Malone, brought him back to No. 1 in May 2024 and wound up spending six weeks in charge. “Love Somebody” and “What I Want” with Tate McRae debuted at the summit in 2024 and 2025, respectively, and both controlled the tally for one frame.

Ella Langley Blocks Morgan Wallen

Wallen is blocked from returning to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by Ella Langley. Her smash “Choosin’ Texas” has now spent 16 weeks in first place, a milestone it reaches this time around.

That run ties “Last Night,” at least for the moment. “Choosin’ Texas” will likely break the tie in a few days when Billboard publishes another round of rankings, as it seems likely that it will continue to hold at No. 1.

Morgan Wallen Debuts on Eight Charts

“Been By Now” debuts on eight Billboard rankings at once, and it launches inside the top 10 on six of them. The single starts at No. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs ranking, stopped from ruling by “Choosin’ Texas” in both instances. The smash performs even better on the Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales and Country Streaming Songs tallies, as it debuts at No. 1 on all three at the same time.

“Been By Now” also opens inside the top five on the Billboard Global 200, giving Wallen another strong showing outside of only the U.S.

Morgan Wallen Reaches 20 Top 10 Hits

“Been By Now” may fail to dominate the Billboard Hot 100, but it does bring Wallen to an important milestone as it debuts. The single becomes his twentieth top 10 hit on the ranking. Wallen has now placed 109 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout his career, with a milestone 20 of them reaching the highest tier.
