PBA game delayed by roof leaks for second straight night

MANILA, Philippines–For the second straight night, the PBA was forced to delay a game due to a roof leak, this time at Ynares Center Montalban in Rodriguez, Rizal.

The contest that eventually saw San Miguel Beer crush Macau, 131-79, in the 2026 PBA Governors’ Cup was delayed twice when heavy rains forced water to drop inside the venue.

San Miguel and Macau were supposed to tip off at 7:30 p.m. but were forced to wait longer due to the leak.

It also created another stoppage late in the first quarter with the Beermen ahead of the Giant Pandas, 35-20, before the game resumed without any more interruption.

The delay came a day after Magnolia’s 105-88 victory over Meralco was marred by a similar issue at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Play was halted before the start of the fourth quarter, causing a delay of almost an hour.

Rains caused by the southwest monsoon have been affecting Metro Manila and surrounding provinces the past few days, with more expected in the coming days.

The inclement weather, however, did not prevent the league from considering postponing recent playdates.
