TEL AVIV, August 9. /TASS/. Lebanon’s government failed to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025, as it promised, so, Israel remains in the buffer zone and continues to act on its own, adviser in the Israeli prime minister’s office Dmitri Gendelman said.

"Israel’s logic is simple. Back in 2925, the Lebanese government committed itself to disarm Hezbollah by the end of that year, but failed to do that. That is why Israel remains in the security zone to dismantle this infrastructure [of terror] on its own," he told TASS, commenting on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements at a weekly government meeting.

"The prime minister’s statement is not mere rhetoric. It is backed by concrete actions taken in recent weeks: the capture of the Ali al-Taher mountain range, which housed a Hezbollah command post, the demolition of tunnel infrastructure near Beaufort, and the daily destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the elimination of armed militants," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted at a weekly government meeting earlier in the day that the Israel Defense Forces "has acted with force in Lebanon," including in the area of the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. He noted that he cannot "elaborate on this, but added that Israel is "in the midst of a very important operation.".
