Andhra Medical College (AMC), Visakhapatnam, has been ranked among the top 25 government medical colleges in the country, with eight government medical colleges from Andhra Pradesh featuring among the top 150 in the rankings released by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF).
AMC emerged as the best-performing medical college in Andhra Pradesh, securing the 13th position nationally. It ranked first in the State and fourth in the South. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, secured the second position in the State, ranking 23rd nationally and sixth in the South.
Guntur Medical College ranked third in the State and 50th nationally, while Kurnool Medical College secured the fourth position in the State and 57th nationally. Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, ranked fifth in the State and 59th nationally. Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati, secured the sixth position in the State and 69th nationally.
Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, and Government Medical College, Anantapur, were ranked 109th and 127th nationally, respectively.
Among private medical colleges, two institutions from Andhra Pradesh featured in the top 100 nationally. They were Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru, and Narayana Medical College, Nellore.
In the nursing category, St. Luke’s College of Nursing, Visakhapatnam, was the only institution from the State to feature in the top 100. It secured the 69th position.
In the list of the top 30 government pharmacy colleges, A.U. College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Visakhapatnam, Acharya Nagarjuna University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam secured the 25th, 26th and 29th positions, respectively. A few private pharmacy colleges from the State also secured good rankings.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences was the only government institution from Andhra Pradesh to feature in the physiotherapy rankings. It secured the 10th position nationally and fourth in the South.
No institution from Andhra Pradesh featured in the rankings of the top dental and public health colleges.
The rankings are based on multiple parameters, including pedagogy, research outcomes, innovative medical infrastructure, social inclusion, future orientation and external perception.
