Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has approved the suspension of the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, over alleged misconduct.

Also placed on suspension is the Edo State Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support, LPRES, Project, Mrs Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku.

The development was announced in a special statement issued on Monday night by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

According to the statement, both officials have been directed to immediately hand over all official documents, records and government property in their custody relating to the LPRES Project to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development.

They were further instructed to report to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for what was described as a comprehensive debriefing on the implementation of the LPRES Project.

The state government, however, did not disclose the specific allegations or circumstances that led to the suspensions.

The LPRES Project is a joint initiative of the federal and state governments designed to enhance livestock production, strengthen resilience in the sector and improve the livelihoods of livestock farmers across participating states.
