The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Abdulmumini Sarki, suspected to be involved in a case of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.
Sarki, a resident of Ziriyalo Hamlet, near Tubule Village in Kirfi LGA, was arrested at about 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, by operatives of the Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters following credible intelligence.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the suspect had previously been declared wanted in connection with the alleged offences.
“Operatives of Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Abdulmumini Sarki, male, 30 years old, of Ziriyalo Hamlet, via Tubule Village, Kirfi LGA, Bauchi State,” the statement said.
The police disclosed that a Boxer motorcycle with registration number GME 224WW, engine number 34043X and chassis number 62032 was recovered during the operation.
An Itel keypad mobile phone containing Glo and MTN SIM cards was also recovered from the suspect.
The command said Sarki remains in custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the command’s determination to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
“The command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property,” the commissioner said.
He further urged members of the public to cooperate with the police by providing useful and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing and investigating criminal activities.
The police assured residents that investigations into the case would continue, with the aim of establishing the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and bringing anyone found culpable to justice.
