Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district has secured the first position in the State in all the three categories under the Jaladhara-Jalaharathi programme.

The district has secured the top position in the number of works taken up, new water storage capacity created and expected outcomes under the programme. The programme aims to promote water conservation, develop water resources and improve water storage capacity.

The achievement has been attributed to the coordination, continuous monitoring and implementation of the programme by the district administration under the leadership of Collector T. Nishanthi. District-level officers and field staff have congratulated the Collector on the achievement.

Ms. Nishanthi said the result was due to the collective efforts of officials from various departments, field-level staff and other stakeholders.

The district administration said the programme would strengthen water security, improve irrigation potential and increase water storage capacity. It would also help create sustainable water resources, particularly benefiting tribal and rural areas of the district.

The administration said it would continue to strengthen water conservation and water-resource development works through coordinated and result-oriented efforts aimed at improving the welfare of people in the district.
