Labour MP Ayesha Verrall recovering from unplanned surgery
Senior Labour MP Dr Ayesha Verrall is recovering from unplanned surgery.
The party's health spokesperson posted on social media on Monday evening that while the surgery was unplanned, it was "much-needed".
"I'm extremely grateful for the care of excellent doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and hospital staff working at Wellington Hospital," she wrote.
"I've had to change my schedule to allow for some recovery time. Then it's right back to fighting for the strong public health system and affordable care that everyone deserves."
It is unclear when Verrall was due to return to work.
Verrall, a former Health Minister, was contesting the Wellington North seat in this year's election.
