Senior couple headed to beach killed in Bohol road crash
CEBU CITY, Philippines- A couple’s plan to bathe at the beach ended in tragedy after a collision between a van and a multicab on the national highway of Barangay Poblacion, Lila in Bohol Province on Saturday evening, August 8.
Authorities identified the victims as alias Em, 69, a government employee, and her husband, alias Cio, 73. Both lived in Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion in Lila, a coastal town on the southern edge of Bohol.
Investigators from the Lila Municipal Police Station identified the driver of the aluminum van as alias John, 21. He reportedly worked as part of the staff of an exorcism center and is a resident of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

The van was traveling from Tagbilaran City to Malinao East in Lila.
The initial investigation found that the driver fell asleep. His van crashed into a green multicab parked along the road.
The impact pushed the multicab, which struck the couple that was about to go to the beach. They were also about to celebrate the birthday of their grandchild.
The two fell down on the seashore while the multicab crashed into a concrete barrier.
The barrier also collapsed and fell on the woman.
Initial reports didn’t identify who had brought the couple to the Dimiao Infirmary in the town right next to Lila. Alias Em was pronounced dead on arrival.
Her husband held on long enough to be transferred to Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City, nearly 40 kilometers away. But he later passed away due to traumatic injury and other injuries on his body.
