Dog survives, rescued nearly 24 hours after Baguio landslide
MANILA, Philippines — A dog survived after being trapped in landslide debris in Barangay Guisan Surong, Baguio City, before rescuers recovered it on Monday, Aug. 10.
The Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO) described the rescue as “miraculous” in a Facebook post.
The dog, reportedly owned by one of the landslide victims, was trapped for almost 24 hours. The landslide killed eight people.
The Baguio City PIO said two individuals had been rescued as of 7 p.m., while three remained missing.
Search, rescue, and retrieval operations remained ongoing at ground zero as responders continued efforts to locate those still unaccounted for.
The Baguio City PIO said the dog’s rescue brought “a small but meaningful moment of hope in the midst of heartbreak.” /mcm
