BUENOS AIRES, August 10. /TASS/. The Colombian Geological Service has revised the magnitude of the earthquake that struck the west of the country to 7.4.

According to updated data, the earthquake occurred near the city of San Jose del Palmar in Choco Department. Its hypocenter was at a depth of 96 km.

At least 20 buildings collapsed in the Colombian city of Cali as a result of the powerful earthquake, with people trapped under the rubble, Mayor Alejandro Eder said. "Residents of Cali, at least 20 buildings have collapsed in the city so far, and people are trapped under the rubble. We are already responding to this emergency together with all of Cali’s rescue services," he wrote on X.

Earlier, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.8. The earthquake has caused casualties. Rescuers and local residents are searching for people who may be trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
