Did you watch the House of the Dragon third season finale last night? I hear it was eventful. If you’re ready to add the entire third season to your physical media collection, you can preorder it now, in 4K steelbook, or Blu-ray, or even DVD (what, no LaserDisc?). The release date has yet to be announced, but if you preorder now, it'll ship at release. Preorders for steelbook editions do occasionally sell out, so you may want to preorder sooner rather than later.

The third season of House of the Dragon is comprised of eight episodes that aired on HBO between June 21 and August 9. There’s no word on what special features or bonus material will come with it, but the second season had extended versions of the 8-part behind-the-scenes featurette The House that Dragons Built, along with behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew, among other things. I’d expect a similar bonus package here.
I haven’t watched this season yet because I couldn’t remember what was going on in season 2. I hear it's been a huge step up in quality, so I need to find a comprehensive recap of the story so far and dive in, now that the whole season is available. Then I’ll wait the inevitable two years for season 4, by which point I’ll have forgotten everything all over again. Thankfully, season 4 is the last season, so the cycle won’t have to repeat after that.

The book in question is George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood (see it at Amazon), a sizable 752-page tome that’s written as a history of the Targaryen Dynasty, rather than a traditional work of fiction. It covers hundreds of years’ worth of Westeros history, beginning with Aegon the Conqueror, who made the Iron Throne, and continues on down the Targaryen generations. It covers everything that happens in House of the Dragon as well, including spoilers for the upcoming final season.
