Marvel TÅkon: Fighting Souls came out last week and while the PS5 version of Arc System Worksâ fighting game is going down well enough, PC players have reported performance issues so bad that prominent fighting game community streamer Maximilian Dood uninstalled the game live on air. Now, after some maintenance, those duking it out on Steam are reporting a much smoother experience.
The update specifically targets performance troubles, reducing the overall CPU load that was causing online lag and general chugging, as well as targeting a bug that has caused performance drops during actual fights. Fans already seem to be having a much better time on the platform, with some saying it fixed âallâ the problems theyâd been having since the gameâs launch on August 6.Â
âThe only issue I had is the micro stutters,â a player says on Reddit. âDid it fix that?â
âYup, I had micro stutters, 58fps and low gpu utilization, all fixed,â another responds.
âHell yeah,â they replied. âMaybe PS5 players will play with us now.âÂ
Well, this is good to know before I start to pen Kotakuâs review of the game later this week. Iâve been really digging TÅkon on PS5 thus far, and hopefully this means everybody will be able to experience it as intended after a pretty quick turnaround on Arc System Worksâ part, all things considered. The full patch notes are as follows:
Reduced CPU Usage
Multiple fixes have been implemented to reduce overall CPU usage, including:
-An issue where the CPU ran high throughout the start up process.
-An issue where additional load on the system was being created due to periodic audio processing during matches.
Sudden Performance Drops
We identified an issue where the game was regularly checking for available audio inputs. These unnecessary checks could cause sudden frame drops and performance drops. This has now been addressed.
Frame Rate Drops
Fixed an issue where the frame rate would drop when certain resolutions were selected.
Battle Settings
Fixed an issue where restarting the game with certain customization items or colors enabled would cause the settings to revert to default.
Online Lobby
Fixed an issue where changing how attack buttons were displayed to action icons resulted in some buttons becoming unresponsive during the open lobby mini games.
Warm Up Those Shaders
With the game being updated to the latest version, the PC version will prompt you to warm-up the shaders. Do so now for a smoother experience.
