Lokayukta police on Tuesday (July 21, 2026), raided several properties linked to a Superintendent Engineer (SE) of a State-run power distribution company in multiple cities in Madhya Pradesh, unearthing disproportionate assets and expenditures exceeding ₹7.16 crore.
Simultaneous searches across nine locations in Indore, Dhar, and Morena uncovered factories and properties registered in the names of family members of the accused official, Shivram Semil, a superintendent engineer with the Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company (DISCOM), a senior official said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Sahay said that a complaint with allegations of disproportionate assets was received against Semil, who is posted at the power distribution company's headquarters in Indore, and a case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018, after a probe.
Multi-city raids were conducted earlier in the day, during which the SE was found to own a three-storey house in Indore, valued at ₹1.2 crore, he said.
The SP further said that industrial units, plots of land, and under-construction factories related to transformer manufacturing and electrical equipment were found in the names of Semil's son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and other close relatives in the Pithampur and Ujjaini industrial areas of Dhar district, with investments running into crores of rupees.
The searches also revealed several business offices in Indore, a plot of land, an electric car, and a two-story house in Morena, he said.
Mr. Sahay said that Semil's total income during his 33 years of government service was approximately ₹2 crore, while preliminary investigations have uncovered expenditures of more than ₹7.16 crore by him and his close relatives.
"This expenditure is more than three times the salary income of a superintendent engineer," he said, adding that documents, investments, and other assets recovered in the raids are being evaluated and further probe is underway.
