Elijah Canlas says he’s ‘not at his happiest’ amid split rumors with Miles Ocampo

Elijah Canlas admitted he is “not at his happiest” at the moment amid speculation that he and Miles Ocampo may have ended their relationship.

Canlas addressed his current state during the red carpet premiere of his latest film “Happy Birthday To Me” (HB2ME) on Monday, Aug. 10.

Asked how he plans to celebrate his birthday on Aug. 16, Canlas revealed that he will be out of the country for another movie under Mavx Productions.

“I’ll be shooting another film. I’m actually going out of the country tomorrow. That’s why napaaga itong premiere namin. Finland. I think I can say that,” he told reporters.

“The team is already there and we’re gonna have fun. Dun ako mag-birthday sa trabaho. Apparently, happiest country in the world nga daw siya,” the actor continued.

When asked if he is currently at his happiest, however, Canlas admitted that he is going through a difficult period.

“Not really, but it’s okay. Kasi busy sa work. It’s hard to ignore those blessings. And spending time with the family, of course,” he said.

“Pero it’s not the happiest moment of my life. I’m really going through it. Pero just living life and focusing on work and focusing on the people around me,” added Canlas.

Canlas’ remarks come amid renewed speculation about the status of his relationship with Ocampo. The breakup rumors resurfaced after Canlas was spotted spending time with singer-actress Thea Astley through a viral TikTok video.

As of writing, Canlas and Astley have not commented on the sighting. Some netizens have speculated that the two may have been together for a project.

The sighting, however, reignited speculation that Canlas and Ocampo may have called it quits for the second time around. But the pair has not publicly confirmed that they have ended their relationship, as of this writing.

Meanwhile, Canlas currently stars in the dark comedy-thriller-drama “HB2ME,” which follows Jonathan Ramirez, a young man traumatized by his father’s cruel birthday pranks.

Determined to get back at his father, Jon stages a fake kidnapping, only for his plan to uncover a dangerous secret involving his family.

The film also stars John Arcilla as Jon’s father, Del Ramirez; Carmi Martin as his mother, Elena; Alexa Miro as Mara, and Criza Taa as Trixie Aguilar, among others.

“HB2ME” is set to premiere in local cinemas on Aug. 19. /edv
