Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) has directed the officials concerned to expedite works relating to second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail in the old city.

7.5 km stretch

Steps should be taken to expeditiously complete road widening works taken up on the 7.5 km stretch between MGBS and Chandrayangutta. The Metro Rail authorities were directed to consult their counterparts in New Delhi Metro for advise on the technology that should be followed for the proposed 7.5 km corridor.

Simultaneously, tenders should be called for launch of metro works in the corridor. The Chief Minister, who is also Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, gave the instructions during a meeting with HMRL officials on Tuesday.

Additional coaches

He wanted the officials to complete land acquisition works pertaining to second phase of metro rail at the earliest. HMRL officials were directed to work out modalities for adding additional coaches to the existing network to cater to the ever increasing rush.

Invest Telangana summit in December

The Chief Minister also reviewed the status of works taken up for the smooth conduct of the second edition of the global summit, Invest Telangana, proposed to be held in December. Officials were directed to review the situation from time to time and take steps for the successful conduct of the summit. He wanted officials to prepare an action plan to felicitate business leaders in various sectors during the summit the arrangements for which should reflect global standards.

Report on status of investments

Reports relating to the status of investments made in the State following the memorandum of understandings signed during the previous summit should be prepared. The report should also incorporate a road map for attracting further investments as part of the next summit.
