The Kerala Pravasi Commission has disposed of around 600 complaints in a year, Commission Chairperson Justice Sophy Thomas has said. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Ms. Thomas said that with the launch of the Pravasi Commission website, nricommission.kerala.gov.in, expatriates from across the world would now be able to submit complaints online, check the current status of their cases, and download orders.

The date, venue and other details of the next adalat to be conducted by the Commission will also be available on the website. Ms. Thomas said that a facility for conducting online hearings would also be introduced, which would help transform the functioning of the Commission into a paperless forum.

Cases that have been pending for 20 years are also coming before the Commission. Those who fall victim to fraudsters can approach the Commission as a last resort, Ms. Thomas said. As many as 67 cases were considered at the Commission’s adalat held here on Tuesday at the Kerala Pravasi Commission office conference hall in Thycaud. Of these, 20 were new complaints, while 47 people appeared before the adalat.
