A 45-year-old private firm manager, who allegedly strangled his two minor daughters to death at a hotel near Kempegowda International Airport, reportedly did so following a marital dispute and disagreement over the custody of the children.

The accused, identified as Imran S.G., has allegedly confessed to killing his daughters, Sheikh Zoya and Sheikh Zehra, aged 10 and 8 years respectively.

G.K. Mithun Kumar, DCP, North East Division, said that the Airport police have also recovered a note allegedly written by Imran, in which he referred to the marital dispute with his wife and the disagreement over the custody of the children.

According to the police, Imran had checked into the hotel two days before the incident along with his daughters. On Monday, around 4 p.m., the hotel cleaning staff went to the room, but received no response. Security personnel were alerted and, after opening the room, they found the two girls lying unresponsive on the bed. Imran was found lying in the bathroom with his throat slit.

The girls were dead while Imran was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The police said he is out of danger and is currently recovering under police custody.

“Prima facie, the children were killed through strangulation,” the DCP said, adding that the exact cause of death would be established through the postmortem reports.

The probe revealed that Imran had a marital dispute and was demanding custody of the children for which the family did not agree.

Accused’s wife

The police have also questioned Imran’s wife, who reportedly confirmed that the couple had been facing marital disputes and had arguments over the custody of their children.

The police have secured the accused and are continuing the investigation to establish the sequence of events and ascertain whether there were any other factors that led to the murders.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem reports and are probing other possible angles in the case.
