RABAT, August 11. /TASS/. The authorities of Morocco have started to build a barrier that will be four meters high outside the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta to prevent a repeat of the mass run on the territory that happened in July, The Maghreb Times reported.

According to the newspaper, the barrier is being built on the outskirts of the town of Fnideq just a few kilometers away from the Spanish autonomous city, with the goal of preventing illegal migrants from approaching the Bab Sebta border crossing leading into Ceuta.

Law enforcement sources in the region told the newspaper that the plan is to prevent any potential gatherings in Fnideq and to give security officers more time to react before flows of illegal migrants reach the border.

It was also reported that the authorities have deployed thousands of security officers, auxiliary forces and military units in Fnideq and on the outskirts of Ceuta.

Special security measures are being implemented in the Ceuta zone after anonymous reports of preparations for a new mass attempt to cross the autonomous city’s border started circulating on social networks. The attempt is scheduled for August 15.
