On top of hundreds of live TV channels that have been added over the past few years, Google TV Freeplay now offers over 10,000 on-demand movies and TV shows you can access with no added apps needed.

Built into every Google TV, at least in the US, Freeplay offers app-free access to a huge library of streaming channels that operate on the “FAST” model – free and ad-supported TV. We’ve closely tracked these additions over the years, and it crossed the 250 milestone back in December of 2025.

As of this week, Google says that there are now over 300 channels available in Freeplay.

The bigger news, though, is that Google TV Freeplay is adding on-demand movies and TV shows in addition to its live content. Through partners including A24 and Lionsgate, Google is adding over 10,000 titles that can be viewed without need of other apps. The Freeplay experience now features “Live TV” and “Free movies & shows” tabs to help you find this content.

Google says this is rolling out “starting today.”

More on Google TV:

  • Google TV is reportedly the #3 streaming OS in the US
  • Walmart’s cheapest Google TV stick isn’t dead yet, but there’s a shift coming
  • I love the Google TV Streamer, but I’d love a Chromecast follow-up even more
