Apple is rumored to use ‘iPhone Ultra’ branding for its upcoming foldable model, and Mark Gurman says that is indeed the name widely used within the company’s ranks.
‘iPhone Ultra’ name for foldable is reportedly used inside Apple
Next month at its September event, Apple will unveil its highly anticipated foldable iPhone.
Ever since rumors about the first foldable iPhone started, the model has commonly been called ‘iPhone Fold.’
But earlier this year, leakers started claiming that ’iPhone Ultra’ will be the product’s name.
And while it’s certainly not confirmation of Apple’s plans, well-sourced leaker Mark Gurman posted on X today that “Everyone calls it the Ultra internally.”
Just because ‘Ultra’ is the common name used by many Apple employees doesn’t mean that will be the final branding.
Apple is a secretive company, so much so that many of its employees are often in the dark about unannounced products unless they’re directly involved in working on them.
‘iPhone Ultra’ might be used internally simply because that’s what outside sources call the foldable. But it’s likely that only key members of Apple’s marketing team and other in-the-know employees know the actual plan for the product’s name.
Do you think iPhone Ultra will be the foldable’s name? What might be more likely? Let us know in the comments.
