A young woman has been found dead in a residence south of Brisbane after midnight, with a man taken into custody and homicide police investigating.

The woman, in her 20s, was found unresponsive by emergency teams called to a property at Slacks Creek in Logan.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Officers arrested a 37-year-old man from that suburb and declared a crime scene.

The man and woman were known to each other, but police did not provide further details on their relationship.

In a statement, police said he was assisting investigators.
