According to Ukrinform, this was reported by The Korea Times.
“South Korea’s supply of defense materials to any country has always been carried out in accordance with domestic law,” said a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As the publication notes, the government is maintaining a cautious stance regarding Ukraine’s request for air defense support and other military needs, a senior government official stated on Monday, following statements by Ukrainian officials that North Korea is preparing to send more troops to support Russia in the war against Ukraine.
South Korea adheres to a policy of providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine while refraining from supplying lethal weapons.
“The government has supported Ukraine in various areas, including energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and education, and will continue to consider measures to assist Ukraine in restoring peace and rebuilding,” the South Korean official stated.
The comments by South Korean officials came in response to a social media post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published the previous day, in which he stated that North Korea was ready to send additional troops to Russia.
The South Korean diplomat declined to confirm Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks regarding diplomatic negotiations on this matter or the additional deployment of North Korean troops on Russian territory.

At the same time, the official emphasized that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia “directly affects our security and violates United Nations resolutions.”
“Our government’s position is that this cooperation must be stopped immediately. We are closely monitoring this issue,” the South Korean diplomat said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stated that North Korea is interested in gaining combat experience in Russia’s war against Ukraine in order to eventually launch a phase of aggression on the Korean Peninsula.
