On 55th birthday, Ate Gay recalls being told he wouldn’t make it to 2026

Ate Gay reflected on the gift of life on his 55th birthday, revealing he was once told by his doctors that he might not make it to 2026 amid his cancer diagnosis.

The comedian, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, said this through his Facebook page on Tuesday, Aug. 11, hours before he welcomed his special day with a gig at a comedy bar.

“Sabi ng doctor ko nung una, ‘di na ako aabot ng 2026. Aba aba aba at eto, abot ako sa birthday ko,” he exclaimed. “Salamat sa inyong lahat lalo na sa mga anghel ko at kay Lord Jesus. Salamat.”

In a separate post, Morales revealed that one of his “angels” paid for his treatment as an early birthday gift to him.

“Pabirthday sa akin ng angel ko, another 12 session (every 21 days) of immunotherapy. Tiyak na patay ang cancer cells,” he wrote. “Thank you Lord Jesus.”

Morales has been receiving treatment for mucoepidermoid squamous cell carcinoma, a rare type of cancer. In June, he disclosed that the doctors discovered a new lump on his neck and that he is undergoing another treatment for it. /edv
