According to Ukrinform, the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

“Russian propaganda outlets are actively spreading the Russian Ministry of Defense’s claim about the capture of the village of Shcherbakivka in the Kharkiv region. This is yet another typical example of Russian disinformation, through which Russian propaganda is attempting to create the illusion of a continuous, successful offensive by Russian troops on all fronts,” the statement reads.

The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that, in reality, the village of Shcherbakivka was decommissioned in 1997, as there were no residents left. As of 2026, no such settlement exists in Ukraine.

“The General Staff and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have previously made repeated official reports about the capture of various Ukrainian settlements, which did not correspond to reality. For example, Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian General Staff, has repeatedly claimed that Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi had been fully captured, even though the Russians do not control these areas,” the CCD emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Viktor Tregubov, a spokesperson for the Joint Forces Task Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that the intensity of Russian attacks in the Kharkiv sector has increased in recent days.
