4 hurt as truck to crashes into church gate, motorcycle in Toledo

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Four individuals were injured in a crash between a truck and a motorcycle on the National Highway in Sitio Tambis, Barangay Poog, Toledo City, on Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, 2026.

The truck was driven by a certain individual identified as “Bien,” 67, married, and a resident of Nalandan, Tagpo, Bais City. He was joined by his passengers, “Sandy,” 30, a resident of Tuyan, City of Naga, and “Alex,” 20, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, City of Naga.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle was driven by “Glydon,” 29, a resident of Barangay Magdugo, Toledo City. The motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet during the incident.

The truck was loaded with feeds that it was about to deliver. However, upon reaching the location, the truck’s brakes malfunctioned, and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Due to this, the truck crashed into a concrete gate of the Pooc Catholic Church in Toledo City and hit the motorcycle, which was traveling in the opposite lane.

The motorcycle driver was able to jump from his vehicle to avoid being hit by the truck; however, he sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the truck driver and his two passengers were brought to the Toledo City General Hospital for medical treatment after sustaining injuries.

The driver of the truck is currently placed under hospital arrest while awaiting appropriate charges to be filed against him.///
