The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested a Sub-Registrar and two private individuals for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a man at the Ponneri Sub-Registrar Office on Wednesday.
According to the DVAC, the complainant, Natarajan, had registered two properties at the Ponneri Sub-Registrar Office. Sub-Registrar Sankar and two private individuals, Ramesh and Nithya, who were working as document writers, allegedly demanded ₹15,000 from him for releasing the registered documents.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, Natarajan approached the DVAC’s Tiruvallur detachment and lodged a complaint, based on which, the officials registered a case and laid a trap on Wednesday.
During the operation, Ramesh allegedly received ₹15,000 from Natarajan on the instructions of Sankar. The DVAC subsequently arrested Sankar, Ramesh, and Nithya. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
