A 45-year-old woman has been arrested after a teenage girl has been rushed to hospital with 'serious' stab wounds.

Emergency services rushed to an address in Coventry on Tuesday night, where they found a 16-year-old girl with a serious stab wound as well as a 42-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries.

Officers arrested a 45-year-old woman on suspicion of two counts of wounding and she remains in custody on Wednesday evening.

Police say it was an 'isolated incident' but have stepped up patrols around Henley Green, a residential suburb in northeast Coventry.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: 'We were called to Roselands Avenue at around 10.10pm last night to reports of a stabbing.

'A 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a stab wound and has since been discharged.

'A 42-year-old woman with minor injuries was also taken to hospital and has also been discharged.

'A 45-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of wounding and remains in police custody.

'We understand that the community will be worried by this news.

'We can confirm that it was an isolated incident, but we will have officers in the local area to offer reassurance.'
