An employee at a Cineplex theater in Prince George, British Columbia took matters into their own hands after their workplace didn’t get an official poster for the newest Spidey film.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has proven to be a massive hit at the box office, sending so many fans to theaters this summer that it’s now become the highest-grossing domestic film release since Avengers: Endgame.

As one of the biggest movies of the year, theaters are going all-out to promote Brand New Day and get as many butts in seats as possible. One of these cinemas is taking an extremely unique approach to its marketing strategy after it failed to receive an official poster to put on the outside of its building.

Famous Players 6 in Canada got unlucky in this regard. However, one of its employees turned their luck around, deciding to draw their own poster rather than have a blank frame for one of the year’s most important releases.

Their artistic interpretation of the popular ‘Spoderman’ meme (a crude drawing of the web-slinging hero that originated in the Dolan comics in the early 2010s) has gone viral on social media, which sits alongside a written message that reads: “Sorry! We never received the real posters! Sorry for any inconveniences!”

While the official Cineplex social media accounts have not yet recognized the artistic genius of this employee, commenters are making sure to give them their flowers, praising them for creating it with their own hands rather than using AI.

“My respect to the one who decided to draw it by hand instead of using AI,” one said.

“I hope Marvel turns that poster into an official one and includes it in the Blu-ray as an alternate cover,” another suggested.

Over on Facebook, Canadian radio station 101.3 The River posted about the drawing, prompting a user who claimed to be the mother of another employee at the theater to name the artist as ‘Drake.’ (No, not the rapper.)

“My daughter said it's been a huge hit. People are even stopping and getting pictures with it!” she wrote.

This is the latest Spider-Man-related story to go viral after Tom Holland’s brutal superhero workout went viral following Brand New Day’s release, prompting fans and fellow fitness enthusiasts to give it a try. Let’s just say, there’s a reason Holland is the one playing the part.
