According to the Volyn regional police department, as reported by Ukrinform, the incident occurred during a document check.
"During the document check, an unidentified man stabbed the military personnel and fled. As a result of the attack, one serviceman sustained a stab wound to the abdominal area and was hospitalized. His condition is currently assessed as serious, and doctors are providing the necessary medical care," the statement said.
According to police, the second serviceman sustained an arm injury. After receiving medical treatment, his condition was satisfactory.
The Operational Command "West" said that the servicemen who were carrying out duties as part of a notification team had combat experience. They had been transferred to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCC and SP) due to their health status.

Law enforcement officers quickly identified the attacker as a Novovolynsk resident born in 1978. He has already been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Authorities are considering notifying the suspect that he is under suspicion under Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning threats or violence against an official or a citizen performing a public duty.
Investigative actions are ongoing.
As Ukrinform reported, on the evening of August 2 in Odesa, a man opened fire on employees of the TCC and SP during mobilization activities. Four servicemen were injured, and the shooter was detained.
