BTS V reveals receiving treatment for hearing problem, Jungkook bares sore shin

V of K-pop supergroup BTS disclosed that he has been suffering from partial hearing loss for the past two years and that he has been undergoing treatment for it.

The South Korean performer made this revelation during a livestream with fellow BTS member Jungkook on fan platform Weverse on Wednesday, Aug. 12. The topic was brought up while the two were sharing a meal after their “Arirang” concert in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States.

“My ears have been bad for the past two and a half years,” he said in Korean, as per an English translation by South Korean newspaper Korea JoongAng Daily. “If the left one hears at about 100 (percent) right now, the right one hears only 30.”

V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, said his condition got a little worse after he entered the military, where he “convinced [himself] that it was [just] a matter of mental strength.”

V nonetheless noted that he has been regularly visiting the hospital for his treatment. He did not expound on the medical treatment he is receiving.

Jungkook, for his part, also opened up about his health during the livestream and said that he has been enduring pain on his shin.

“My shin is right at the point just before a stress fracture. Even today on stage my heart was set on running around, but it hurt too much at points and I couldn’t,” he said. “It hasn’t reached a stress fracture yet, but there’s a lot of inflammation in my shin and I think there’s some microdamage to the bone.”

He then vowed, “I’ll be careful with myself so I can finish this tour properly.”

BTS is currently staging the North American leg of their “Arirang” concert tour. The group is set to perform next in Texas on Aug. 15 and 16. /edv
