Garmin has launched a new fitness band called the Cirqa Smart Band. The headline feature here is what it doesn't have: a screen. With Cirqa, Garmin is taking a swing at Google’s Fitbit Air. The Cirqa is rated to deliver up to 10 days of battery life and it can track health data around the clock, without constantly demanding your attention. It requires no subscription to access any of its features.

Despite lacking a display, the Cirqa automatically detects and records a range of activities, which users can later view and edit in the Garmin Connect app. The band actually gets smarter over time, adapting to classify activities more accurately as users confirm or correct them.

On the health side, the band tracks wrist-based heart rate, Body Battery energy monitoring, Pulse Ox, stress levels, and skin temperature.

Women may find the band particularly useful. They can track their menstrual cycle and pregnancy, with period predictions and ovulation estimates based on overnight skin temperature data, and the option to sync with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles birth control app. Notably, these features require its own separate subscription.

For sleep tracking, it is also fairly comprehensive, covering sleep stages, a sleep score, heart rate variability, respiration, and nap detection.

In terms of fitness, the Cirqa supports manual tracking for more than 80 activities, accessible with a single tap of the side button. It also includes more advanced training metrics like training readiness, HRV status, VO2 max, and workout recovery time.

The band can connect to a compatible iPhone or Android phone's GPS for accurate outdoor tracking, and supports LiveTrack, which lets friends and family follow your location in real time.

The band is designed for comfort, with a fabric strap that can be worn on the wrist or as an armband, and comes in multiple colours, including Citron Grey, Mauve, French Grey, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue, and Black.

The Garmin Cirqa smart band is available now at a suggested retail price of $199.99, which is roughly Rs 19,000.
