Live: One believed dead as Sylvia Park lockdown lifts

A lock down is currently underway at Sylvia Park mall in the Auckland suburb of Mt Wellington, a staff member has confirmed.

A shop worker inside the mall says they have been told that a person with a gun has been seen in the area and to lock their doors.

She says police armed with long rifles are in the area. She has also seen police dogs.

The shop worker, who asked not to be identified, says she is in the shop with customers and the doors are locked.

Kiwi Property, which owns and manages Sylvia Park, told RNZ it was aware of an incident and that it was working with Police.

Dozens of police cars could be seen outside the mall's main entrance, with some reports on social media saying gunshots were heard.
