A 27-year-old man has died, and seven teenagers have been charged with murder following a serious assault in Kelvin Grove last month.

Police allege a group of teenagers assaulted a 27-year-old man on Victoria Park Road and stole his BYD car about 10.30pm on July 24.

The group fled in the stolen car before police arrived. The BYD was located the next morning on Barter Avenue in Holland Park.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack and was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He died on August 6.

A 16-year-old Alderley boy and a 17-year-old Kelvin Grove boy were charged with grievous bodily harm and robbery the day after the assault.

Further investigations led to the arrest of another seven teenagers, including a 14-year-old Kelvin Grove girl, a 16-year-old Middle Park boy, a 15-year-old Calamvale boy, a 16-year-old East Ipswich boy, a 15-year-old Holland Park girl, a 15-year-old Coorparoo girl and a 16-year-old Greenslopes girl.

Seven teens involved in the incident had their charges upgraded to murder on Thursday afternoon, and were expected to appear before Brisbane Children’s Court today.

Police said investigations are ongoing.
