Omoda and Jaecoo have just passed the 100,000 UK sales barrier, not even two years after arriving in the UK and with the Jaecoo 7 accounting for more than half of them.

Omoda arrived on 31 August 2024, followed by sister brand Jaecoo in January 2025. Together they now have almost 5.7 per cent of the UK new-car market, according to the latest registration figures from SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders).

The Range Rover lookalike Jaecoo 7 has been the star turn; more than 53,000 have been registered since it went on sale in February 2025 and it has remained among Britain’s 10 best-selling cars since September last year. Jaecoo says 75 per cent of buyers choose the plug-in hybrid SHS-P model, while private customers account for 66 per cent of registrations.

The Omoda 5 was the first of the two brands’ cars to reach Britain and has added more than 36,500 sales. It’s offered with petrol, hybrid and electric power, while 71 per cent of sales have gone to private buyers.

The wider range now runs from the Omoda 5, 7 and 9 to the Jaecoo 5, 7 and 8, covering petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric cars. That means the 100,000 figure isn’t an electric-only milestone, although electrified models have played a big part in the two brands’ rapid rise.

The cars haven’t arrived alone with Omoda and Jaecoo investing heavily in the UK with more than 144 retail locations around the UK including sites in most major cities. These dealers have been backed by new parts hubs, aftersales support and an all-new warranty programme.

The two brands are backed by Chinese car giant Chery, which is now selling its own-brand models in the UK and has already sold more than 20,000 cars here this year. The wider Chery group recently passed 20 million vehicle sales worldwide. Omoda and Jaecoo now account for 570,000 of those.

There’s more to come, too. Omoda and Jaecoo say further model launches are planned – including the Omoda 4 – and additions to the retail network are planned during the rest of 2026. Owners will get their own thank you in September, when the company plans a customer celebration day to mark the anniversary and sales milestone.

Gary Lan, CEO of Omoda and Jaecoo UK, said: “We have never shied away from the understanding that to be successful in the UK, it would require investing heavily in our people, our retailer network, and the ownership experience, and we’ve done that since day one.

“When Omoda launched, followed closely by Jaecoo, our ambition was to create two brands capable of delivering exceptional value, innovative technology and outstanding customer experiences. Surpassing 100,000 vehicle sales in under two years is a significant milestone for everyone involved. It demonstrates the strength of that proposition, the dedication of our teams and partners across the country and the trust customers have placed in our products and long-term vision.

“The future is looking very bright for us here in the UK. The progress made over the past two years has created a strong foundation for sustained growth, and we remain focused on continuing to invest in building a business designed around the needs of British customers. That commitment remains unchanged.”

Lan concluded: “Above all, we owe this milestone to our 100,000 owners and drivers, as without them, none of this would be possible. We look forward to marking this milestone through a customer celebration day which we are holding in September – a great chance to come together and reflect on the journeys we have shared, whether on the road, or in the sales charts.”
