Elisse Joson, Empoy Marquez lead first Filipino film to shoot in Finland

Elisse Joson and Empoy Marquez are set to lead what is being billed as the first Filipino film to be filmed in Finland.

Mavx Productions announced the production’s arrival in Finland in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Aug. 12, sharing photos of the cast and crew in Helsinki.

“We’re here! We’re about to shoot the first Filipino film filmed in Finland!” read the production studio’s caption.

Before beginning production, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy in Helsinki, where they met with Philippine Ambassador Domingo P. Nolasco.

Following the courtesy visit, Mavx Productions said the cast spent time exploring Helsinki, sightseeing and bonding before the cameras started rolling.

The embassy also shared photos from the visit through its official Facebook page, identifying the delegation as led by executive producer and director Erwin Blanco, alongside Joson, Marquez and other cast members Michael de Mesa and Benjie Paras.

During the courtesy call, Nolasco shared insights into Finland’s culture, people and way of life, as well as the growing Filipino community in the country.

“Ambassador Nolasco also highlighted the Philippine government’s support for the Philippine creative industries and expressed the Embassy’s readiness to assist the production team in any way during their stay in Finland,” the caption continued.

The Philippine Embassy in Helsinki confirmed that the upcoming movie is the first Filipino film to be filmed in Finland. It is scheduled for release later this year.
