Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has said that ₹10.20 crore has been sanctioned for strengthening educational and healthcare infrastructure in Guntur district.

Dr. Chandra Sekhar, who is also Guntur MP, said in a statement on Thursday that ₹5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a hostel at Tadikonda Gurukulam and ₹5.20 crore for renovation and modernisation of the old building of the Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH).

Dr. Chandra Sekhar said the allocations would improve accommodation facilities for students at the Gurukulam and enable the GGH to provide better medical services to the public.

He attributed the sanction to coordinated efforts by the district administration, officials and public representatives towards Guntur’s development. He appreciated District Collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma for coordinating with various departments and continuously following up on the proposals.

Dr. Chandra Sekhar thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his continued support for the development initiatives in Guntur district.

The latest sanctions, he said, would provide improved facilities for students and patients alike.
