Ukrainian farmers have already harvested nearly 5.5 million tonnes of new-crop grain and pulses.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine said this in a press release, Ukrinform reports.

"The harvesting campaign for early grain and pulse crops is underway in Ukraine. As of July 21, farmers in all regions have already harvested 1.34 million hectares, or 11% of the projected area, and threshed 5.47 million tonnes of new-crop grain," the statement said.

In particular, 2.6 million tonnes of wheat have been harvested from 633,200 hectares, with an average yield of 41.1 centners per hectare.

Farmers have threshed 2.56 million tonnes of barley from 580,500 hectares, with an average yield of 44.1 centners per hectare.

A total of 301,400 tonnes of peas have been harvested from 121,600 hectares, with an average yield of 24.8 centners per hectare.

Farmers in the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions are currently leading in the harvesting of early grain and pulse crops.

In particular, farmers in the Odesa region have threshed 1,596,700 tonnes from 385,000 hectares, including 616,500 tonnes of wheat, 858,200 tonnes of barley and 133,000 tonnes of peas.

Agricultural producers in the Mykolaiv region have harvested 1,302,600 tonnes from 365,500 hectares, including 694,000 tonnes of wheat, 521,700 tonnes of barley and 83,100 tonnes of peas.

Farmers in the Dnipropetrovsk region have harvested 1,004,600 tonnes from 256,500 hectares, including 712,200 tonnes of wheat, 273,500 tonnes of barley and 18,300 tonnes of peas.

Rapeseed harvesting is also underway. Winter and spring rapeseed have already been harvested from 216,200 hectares, with 429,600 tonnes threshed at an average yield of 19.9 centners per hectare.
