The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has said that the Andhra Pradesh government’s claims of attracting massive investments and generating large-scale employment have come under scrutiny following information furnished by the Union Government in Parliament.

Referring to replies given by the Centre to questions raised by YSRCP leader P.V. Midhun Reddy, the party on Tuesday said that Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada informed that only 10 investment projects monitored by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Invest India had been grounded in Andhra Pradesh over the last two years. Of these, only two projects had completed construction, while the remaining were under various stages of implementation.

According to the reply, the total estimated investment associated with these projects was ₹6,962 crore. The Centre also said that the 22,167 jobs linked to these projects were projected employment opportunities expected after the projects become operational and did not represent jobs that had already been created.

“The reply does not specify the actual investment realised on the ground, the number of industries that have commenced commercial production, or the number of people currently employed through these projects,” the YSRCP said in a release.

Referring to another reply relating to the MSMEs and entrepreneurship development, the Centre stated that 10,093 participants attended 201 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) during 2024-25, while 32,428 participants took part in 625 programmes during 2025-26. “However, the reply did not provide details on how many participants subsequently established industries, received financial assistance, started MSMEs or generated employment,” the YSRCP said.

Referring to the Centre’s replies, the YSRCP alleged that the data contradicted the TDP-led NDA government’s claims on industrial investments and employment generation.
