Arnold Vegafria to mount new national pageant in 2027

Another national pageant will make its way into the already saturated beauty contest circuit in the country, and it will be mounted by queenmaker, talent manager and entrepreneur Arnold Vegafria.

The head of ALV Pageant Circle, organizer of the Miss World Philippines pageant and the erstwhile Miss Grand Philippines contest, will conduct the new competition in the first quarter of 2027 to crown the country’s delegates to different global tilts.

Vegafria made the announcement at the recent Miss World Philippines Batangas coronation night, where he revealed that aside from the provincial pageant’s main winner who will compete at the 2027 Miss World Philippines pageant, two more provincial delegates will be sent to “Miss Island Philippines.”

He said the new national pageant will replace the Miss Grand Philippines pageant, which ALV Pageant Circle mounted in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Several other national titleholders, aside from the main winner, were crowned in the three editions.

The Miss Grand International franchise for the Philippines changed hands this year, and the delegate was chosen under the Reina Filipinas mantle. ALV Pageant Circle, on the other hand, held a coronation ball to proclaim new national titleholders from its roster of beauty queens.

Vegafria said the inaugural edition of Miss Island Philippines will have its coronation ceremony at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City in March next year.

The new national competition will crown the Philippines’ delegates to the Miss Global, Miss Asia Pacific International, Universal Woman, Face of Beauty International, Miss Tourism International, Miss Tourism Worldwide, and Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International pageants.

He had already crowned the Philippines’ delegates to those international pageants’ respective 2026 editions, some of whom received their crowns at the Miss World Philippines competition in February.

Vegafria, however, did not announce when the 2027 Miss World Philippines pageant will be held, and whether it will come before or after his new Miss Island Philippines search. /ra
