Minister of Transport, Sports, and Youth Services Mandipalle Ramprasad Reddy on Friday (August 14, 2026) inaugurated the new Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Residential School for Boys at Rayachoti in Annamayya district.

Addressing a gathering of officials, teachers and parents, the Minister said the existing school marked a significant milestone in the educational history of the drought-prone Rayalaseema region. “This upgraded infrastructure will help provide quality education to children from disadvantaged communities. Rayachoti is among the places selected for one of the 10 newly sanctioned BC welfare residential schools in the State,” Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said.

He said that the new residential hostel would offer students from BC communities free education, boarding and lodging, textbooks, uniforms and modern educational facilities.

“Poverty and drought should not determine children’s futures,” the Minister said, and expressed hope that the students from the region would become civil servants, doctors, engineers, and scientists. “The State government is focusing on strengthening education, infrastructure, and opportunities for youth in the Rayachoti constituency,” he said.
