Mark Wright has revealed he has fractured his back after 'training too hard' and will be out of action for three months.

The former TOWIE star, 39, told on his dedicated golfing Instagram page this week that he 'heard a pop' five weeks ago but initially dismissed his ongoing pain as muscular injury.

However, an ultrasound revealed things were a lot worse than he thought, with the latest injury coming just months after he sustained a stress fracture on his right rib.

Speaking to the camera while standing in front of a CT scanner, Mark told how he was now set to have a CT scan to determine the extent of the fracture, with the star admitting 'it's not looking good.'

He explained: 'You’ve probably been thinking, 'Where’s he been? Where’s the golf content?' Well, remember that stress fracture I had on my rib, on the right side, a couple of months back?

'About five weeks ago I felt a pop, or a tear, in my back, and I just thought it was a muscular thing.

'But five weeks on, and it’s not better, so I went for an ultrasound scan last night, and it looks like I’ve got another fracture.

'I think I did them at the same time. This has been going on since February, by the way, so I’ve had five weeks of golf in pain, by the way. So, I’m here about to have a CT scan to see the results; it’s not looking good.'

The presenter added: 'It’s been a devastating year, but that’s what you get, I suppose, for training - doing too much, trying to get down too quick.

'Next time, I need to manage my body, but I don’t know how long; if it’s a deep fracture I could be 12 weeks. Absolutely gutted.'

Captioning his post, Mark went into more detail about how the injury has affected him.

He penned: '2 stress fractures, 2 different ribs (front and back) since Feb. The chances of hitting 4.0 by the time I turn 40 in January, is now looking slim after having months out. I keep coming back too early.

'I’m hoping in a couple of weeks when I’m back, that’s the end of it and I can push right through until Jan, to see how close I can get. I cannot wait to be back out on the course.'

'It’s been a tough time considering golf makes me very happy and is my real release. Anyone else struggling with injury’s right now, you’ve got this!! Hang on in there.'

Mark's post was met with a plethora of supportive messages from fans wishing him a speedy recovery.

They shared: 'Ah mate that’s tough. But your an athlete and very driven you’ll be back up and smashing it again on the course.'

'Keeping my fingers crossed it's not too bad. XX'

'Ahh that sucks ….you were smashing it but you will be back fighting fit again…Stronger and then be off scratch before you know it!'

'Wishing you well and get back on the course in the autumn.'

Mark's upsetting health update comes just weeks after he enjoyed a rare date night with wife Michelle Keegan.

The actress, 39, and the TV personality, who tied the knot in 2015, looked happier than ever as they cosied up during their date.

Michelle stunned in a simple white top and styled her dark tresses in loose waves while Mark donned a grey T-shirt.

The couple beamed as the Netflix star asked: 'Can we go again next weekend @wrighty?'

Meanwhile, amid the latest heatwave, the grounds of Mark and Michelle's Essex mansion are still looking vibrant and lush despite the hosepipe ban brought on at the start of August.

The couple's water supplier Essex and Suffolk Water announced a temporary ban after months of prolonged dry weather and dwindling water reserves.

Aerial photographs show the land around the former TOWIE star and actress's renovated mansion, which they transformed after purchasing it for £1.3million in 2019.

The five-bedroom property looks out on sprawling landscaped grounds with an outdoor swimming pool designed with an Ibiza-style feel.

Eight other water companies have brought bans, which mean customers are legally prohibited from using hosepipes to water gardens or wash cars, patios or boats.

There is no evidence Mark and Michelle have breached a ban, given there are many workarounds for watering grass such as using a watering can. They may also have an exemption.
