Video game charity SpecialEffect has once again hosted its One Big Game football event, bringing developers from all across the UK games industry together to raise money for a good cause. And with the event now over, more than £63,000 has been raised to help support physically disabled gamers.

This year, 24 teams played consecutive games of football over 24 hours, all in the hope of raising a substantial sum for SpecialEffect, which works to provide games access to to physically disabled people through specially-made hardware like controllers and eye-gaze support tools.

One Big Game has now concluded, raising over £63,000 in total, and the whole event is available to view via video-on-demand on the official SpecialEffect Twitch account.

There were some really good matches, too. Activision battled EA in a game ending 2-3 in EA's favour, while Maverick + Friends faced off against Playground and Rare in a real nail-biter. And Xbox under the team name "Score more with Xbox" didn't manage to score more than Jagex, who took the game 2-1.

SpecialEffect has run this event (and others like it) for years now, and it's proven to be a really brilliant effort each time. With the stream concluded, the hosts have hinted at future events to come, which I think everyone can agree will be very welcome.
