One of the most delightful surprises of 2026 pop culture has got to be Widow’s Bay. Apple TV’s horror comedy about a cursed island and the quirky people who live there went crazy viral and racked up 19 Emmy nominations. The streamer wisely renewed the show for a season two, and Katie Dippold and her writing team are currently working on the story. We had some suggestions, mostly related to the cliffhangers and lingering questions raised by season one, and unsurprisingly, the Widow’s Bay cast has also been pondering what lies ahead for their characters.

In a new Deadline feature that’s mostly focused on looking back at the show’s stellar debut season, Matthew Rhys, who plays Mayor Tom Loftis, and others spoke about what they’d like to see.

Season one, Rhys said, ended in a way that’s perfectly poised to keep moving the story forward. “Itâs the ultimate setup, I think, for a season two,â he told Deadline. âMassive cliffhanger. Iâm just talking personally now. A father who now knows the folklore is true. Therefore, if he suddenly leaves the island, his son will die. He realizes he has the Scooby-Doo mission. Itâs like, OK, how do we figure this out? What breaks the curse?â

Dale Dickey, who plays Rosemary, had a maybe not-so-serious idea for a scene with Rosemary and Dale, played by Jeff Hillerâa duo that Dippold herself knows fans want to see more of.

âI was talking to Jeff Hiller,â Dickey told Deadline. âI would love to do a boat scene where Rosemary and Dale are out searching for the sea hag to get some answers. I thought that would be fun. And then we tip over and thereâs only one life jacket. Whoâs going to live?â

Stephen Root, who plays Wyck, is hoping for more journeys into the past. “I hope we get more backstory from everybody, whether itâs romance when I was younger or more about Dale Dickeyâs character or anybody. And Iâm hoping that, whether Katie does that in the flashback or in exposition, I donât know, but Iâm really hoping that you get more backstory. Because the more backstory you get, the more youâre engulfed in being interested in these characters.â

Kate O’Flynn, a breakout as Patricia, is also looking to the pastâbut, like, in a historical sense. “I would love to play a British ancestor of Patricia or something⦠I like the idea of wigging up and doing a bit of period drama. Why not?”
